Dennis Schroder is likely to finish out the 21-22 season with the Houston Rockets and not negotiate a buyout.
Schroder was traded by the Boston Celtics to the Rockets at the deadline.
Sources tell Marc Stein of Substack that neither Schroder or the Rockets favor a buyout.
Schroder has appeared in three games with the Rockets, averaging 12.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 7.7 assists in 29.0 minutes.

Strange! I think there are some playoff teams that could really use him... And he could really use a solid playoff run!

While none of us know the real reason for this, I do agree it’s strange. Perhaps both parties see a possible future together, and they want to see how the pairing plays out.

My guess is: Schroder wants to rebuild his value before the summer, and does not want to risk being a 10-15mpg guy. Houston thinks that if he rebuilds his value, they might be able to grab a draft pick in an S&T this summer since most teams will not have any cap space.

Um, I'm not sure you can claim Substack as an employer. It's like saying Mark Stein of Facebook or Mark Stein of the internet.

I think his plan is to boost his offensive numbers while playing for a bad team. That at least creates the illusion that he could possibly be a number two on a weak team, or a third option on a good one. If he goes to a contender and they don't like him, and he rides the pine, that's just more confirmation that he's damaged goods and doesn't really fit in anywhere.

He is getting 29 minutes a game this is not strange at all.. He wouldn't be getting anywhere near that on any contender..He could go to the lakers but they would have to bench Westbrick and DS can play defence..
