Ben Simmons Expected To Soon File Grievance Against 76ers

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Mar 9, 2022 2:27 am

Ben Simmons and his representatives are expected to soon file a formal grievance against the Philadelphia 76ers in the coming days, sources tell Kyle Neubeck of the Philly Voice.

The 76ers withheld compensation and issued fines for Simmons while he remained out of the lineup. Simmons cited mental health issues for why he remained away from Philadelphia.

Simmons plans to attend Thursday's game with the Brooklyn Nets at the 76ers. The Sixers traded Simmons to Brooklyn at the deadline as part of a package for James Harden.

Oh boy. This will be a landmark decision either way.

If employees can get paid while having mental health issues and not working — yikes. There needs to be a specific amount of time an employee can miss and get paid similar to maternity leave or something.

But if the league allows a number of mental health games off wouldn’t every player take advantage of it?

Why wouldn't they? They already take rest days off, why not more?

No pride in these players anymore. smh. Ben Simmons is a completely entitled joke.

hes screwing it up for the other players. Imagine if there was a specific policy in place regarding this for rui hachimura, or kyle lowry when they missed time due to mental health concerns and were forced to play or lose money. kyrie lost just as much money for a personal choice, hasnt pulled a stunt like this yet, possible with a better legal argument to make as well.

Mental illness is why he can’t play, that’s fine. What’s his excuse for not being able to shoot? Both sides cut their losses. They didn’t have a big contract player for most of the year, and he doesn’t get paid bc…..he didn’t play. Just move on, what a loser.

I sure hope this gets quickly dismissed.

Getting heckled by fans is part of the job (for better or worse). He gets paid so much partially because of that. If he can't handle it, it's not the team's fault, he shouldn't be a part of professional sports. Let him go be a delivery driver or something

In terms of basketball, Ben Simmons is now a joke.
In terms of real life work scenarios, Ben Simmons may become a hero.

I can't wait to tell my boss "I'm gonna take a Ben Simmons for a week or so".

I should know this with as many times as I have handed out FMLA paperwork over the last 2 years....but I wonder how fmla impacts this.

The Federal government has all ready set up what and what is not protected missed time, I wonder how that would impact this.

* QUICK Google search, 12 weeks for mental heath

If anyone should be filing a grievance it should be the 76'ers. This guy should be suspended for his antics not rewarded. His behaviour has been disgusting.
