Ben Simmons has been diagnosed with a herniated disk in his back.

The Brooklyn Nets remain optimistic that Nash will play at some point this season, but time is quickly running out. 

Simmons had an epidural last week to alleviate some pressure in his back.

"He's had this a couple years ago, so he's had [herniated disks] throughout his career at some points," Steve Nash said. "And I guess there was a flare-up. I'm not sure when they recognized it was beyond a back flare-up and a herniated disc or what not, but somewhere along the line there, that was the reason for the epidural."

Nash said last week that Simmons had an MRI on his back so that the organization could figure out what was causing the discomfort.

"I've had the same issues," Nash said. "But they're all really unique and different, so it's really hard for me to kind of share my experiences with it because my back was totally different. You just never know. You never know how it responds. You feel great and turn a corner and the next week or so or it could be a longer-term thing, so we just have to be patient and see how he goes."

So true, dude is only 48. I don't see him stepping back on the court and playing PF in Ben Simmons' place when he gets to 50, so you got 2 years there. But never say never!

Nash could easily be the glue to the Nets. Talk about the secret weapon of all weapons. He wants to move up the all time 3pt list and this is the year he will make his move!

Real GM writer should actually read what he or she wrote before posting.

This is why I felt it was a good idea for Philadelphia to just let Simmons stay home while they looked for a trade paid or not...they have to be thankful that he didn't come and play and then have him get this injury, his trade value would have tanked futher.

Tough break for Brooklyn...after doing things perfectly since Marks took over as GM, Harden messed them up twice.

I still think Simmons will be good for them, but a herniated disk for a big guy who moves the way he does seems like it could plague him the rest of his career.

Only on RealGM can their “writers” mess up copying and pasting articles from other sources.

They did great other than getting Harden. He loves to lose close games for his teams, especially in the playoffs

Doesn’t really mean anything. You could diagnose any adult in America with a herniated disc if you want.

What matters is how much the disc has moved and if it’s causing pain or other symptoms.

A herniated disc in of itself is not uncommon

So with this legit injury, he might just get his money afterall.

I’ll bet Nash could give you 15-17 minutes at the backup PG position for a week or two. The body may not be willing, but he has the kind of smarts to make it work.
