Nets Waive James Johnson, Convert Kessler Edwards From Two-Way To Standard Contract

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Apr 7, 2022 6:26 pm

The Brooklyn Nets have waived James Johnson.

Johnson appeared in 62 games for the Nets this season, averaging 4.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 19.2 minutes.

Brooklyn is creating a roster spot to convert Kessler Edwards from a Two-Way to a standard contract in order to make him eligible for the playoffs.

Wave a guy that averaged almost 20mins a game right before the playoffs. What, did he go Bobby Portis on someone at practice?

I have no idea who the guy on the two way contract is, one thing I do see is that James Johnson has shot 27% from 3 this season, I think his legs have finally given out?

This is a bit shocking, he seemed to be a strong bench player. When in the game he was the primary ball-handler.

I want to see what the guy that replaced him contributes

He was terrible, he played great defense on Giannis for one game and had some flashes but way too many mistakes for a guy who’s been in the league since 07

why were they playing him 20 minutes per game then?

it doesn't make sense to wave a guy with 1 game remaining with that high of a usage rate.
