Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun Apr 17, 2022 10:17 pm

Tyler Herro, Cameron Johnson and Kevin Love have been announced as the three finalists for the 21-22 NBA Sixth Man of the Year award.

Herro has widely been considered the favorite to win the award on the strength of his season for the Miami Heat. Herro averaged 20.7 points per game for Miami.

Love averaged 13.6 points and 7.2 rebounds in a bounce back season with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Johnson averaged 12.5 points while shooting 43 percent on three-pointers for the Phoenix Suns.

Would be great if NBA made all their annual awards 3 tier ( similar to NBA all team ) -- all 3 players are worthwhile.

Gold medal = Tyler Herro
Silver = Cam Johnson
Bronze = Kevin Love

I like it too. The NBA’s 2022 silver MVP Joel Embiid” and whatnot… it really is nice.

Then players go down in history with gold MVP awards, a couple of silver defensive player of the year awards or some fringe star can tell his grandchildren how he won a bronze MIP in the NBA once even though he couldn’t make it to the all star game. That’s beautiful imo.

Can't even tell if you're being sarcastic but no, the way you describe it sounds horrible. They can't change it now unless they go back and award players silver and bronze for every NBA season going back. Otherwise, they're watering down the prestige of the award.
