Nikola Jokic Plans To Sign Supermax With Nuggets In Offseason

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Apr 28, 2022 11:19 am

Nikola Jokic plans to sign the supermax extension worth $254 million over five years if he's offered it this offseason by the Denver Nuggets.

"I would like it, of course," Jokic said when asked about a contract extension. "But it's not something that I'm deciding. I think if [the] offer is on the table, of course I'm going to accept it because I really like the organization, I really like the people who works here. I'm in [a] really good relationship with everybody from [the] owner to equipment manager."

Jokic and the Nuggets were eliminated from the playoffs by the Golden State Warriors in a close Game 5.

Jokic is widely expected to win MVP for the second straight season.

Yes, clearly he deserves it, but the question is "does he have better chance to get a title at 250M over 5 years, or at 200M and one more guy at 50M in the roster over 5 years?
Via trading for more salary, or with MLE... it all depends on how much DEN is ready to spend. If they say to him they won't use the MLE because of this contract, it may be worth to think it twice

Get the bag Jokic. You can always demand a trade / fake a mental illness / not get vaccinated / take games off for no reason / show up out of shape / refuse to play / and wind up on a contender. Get your money bro. Next collective bargaining agreement is going to be harsh on players. Get it while you can my man, you deserve it.

Would you think twice if somebody offered you 50 million dollar?

Me? If I was Jokic?
If it's what your talking about, I will not answer your question because it has nothing to do with the situation.
The real question would not be "Would you think twice if somebody offered you 50 million dollar?"
but it would be "Would you think twice if a team offered you 250 million dollar instead of 200 million dollars?"

And at this question, my answer is pretty sure : I take 200M and leave a bit more room to have a better team and chance at a ring.

The problem is not getting 50 or 0, it's getting 250 or 200, which is completely different.

I think that’s naïve, but clearly we don’t know. It’s probably fair to agree to disagree. I don’t think many people would leave 50 mil on the table.
