Zach LaVine Says 'I Plan To Enjoy Free Agency'

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Apr 30, 2022 5:18 am

Zach LaVine said that he plans to explore the market as an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

"I plan to enjoy free agency," said LaVine on Friday. "We're going to have to experience A through Z without making any fast decisions."

LaVine added that he isn't necessarily leaning in the Bulls' direction.

"I have to do this as a business decision, as a man, to not just be viewed one way and be like I'm automatically coming back or I'm automatically leaving," said LaVine.

The Bulls can currently offer a max contract worth more than $210 million over five seasons. Executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas was focused on his relationship with LaVine, adding "the last two years have been the best two years of his career, so we'll see what happens."

LaVine is currently set to undergo knee surgery this offseason.

Given Lavine's injury history & surgeries -- any contract would be heavily incentivized / insured.

To me - he's lost a step. But his fit with Derozan seems good so..

Such a tough decision. A good offensive player that gives most of it back on D. CHI might be better off exploring what they can get back in a S&T. I believe he would be eligible for around $215/5... no way I'm doing that for LeVine.

You dudes are dreaming. Name me the last all star guard that didn't get the contract he wanted? He will get his max contract and get it without any injury provisions in it.

$42M / year is too much. I don’t think anybody’s giving Lavine that.

The owners can start with this off season with killing the awful contracts and player empowerment. Bulls shouldn’t offer him the max and other teams should offer 4yrs/$80m

Yup I agree. This off season is for owners to get control back.

I agree that the players have too much control and I'd like things to change back to the way it used to be however if the owners demand change then you can bet you're *** that there'll be a lockout if there's dramatic changes to the CBA. The players fought like hell to get things the way they are now so they won't let go easily.
