Warriors Could Look Into Trade For Rudy Gobert

On the latest Hoop Collective, the group talked about where the Utah Jazz go after their first-round loss to the Dallas Mavericks. Much of that speculation was around Rudy Gobert's future.

Brian Windhorst speculated that the Golden State Warriors could be a team interested in acquiring Gobert. Tim MacMahon noted that Draymond Green and Gobert have a great relationship, while Windhorst added that the Warriors have Andrew Wiggins, and his large contract, to offer in a trade.

Both Windhorst and MacMahon said they believe it's more likely Gobert would be moved this summer than Donovan Mitchell.  The sense is that Utah would prefer to rebuild around Mitchell.

Why is the article making it sound like Wiggins "large contract" is an enticing thing? Lol

Wiggins fluke starting position in the all-star game suddenly makes him worth Gobert... specially with his over-rated large ass contract

Wiggins since the All-Star Game - 15.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, .425 FG%, .337 3Pt%

$33.6 million due to him in 2022-23.

Yeah, that'll get you Rudy Gobert in return.

Y'all are taking the Wiggins things out of context. It simply means they have the ability to match salary in a trade for a player making $40mil/year.

Obviously, picks and/or young players like Wiseman and Moody would have to be included. I think they like Kuminga too much to include him.

I don’t think the Warriors mind having Gorbert on the team. But then Gorbert has $170m/4 remaining, and the Warriors will always go small during clutch time.

Not sure the Warriors are willing to trade much for a player they will only use for around 25 minutes a game.

Once you start talking about Kuminga Moody Wiseman + future picks, it will stop making sense for the Warriors.

For real. It'd be something like Wiggins/Wiseman/Moody for Gobert/O'Neal or something like that. Wiggins is overpaid, but he's a good player (not great) and his deal is expiring after next year. I expect the Warriors to move him to make room for Kuminga in the starting 5 though.

Please stop posting Windhorst reports. Almost everything the guy says is hearsay or completely derived from his own opinion.

This is garbage speculation in the first place, but even if the Warriors were interested there's no way Kuminga or Moody are involved in that deal. At most it would be Wiseman since he's made redundant by Gobert, and obviously Wiggins for the salary. But Kuminga/Moody, not a chance.

Kuminga is definitely a keeper, he's got sky-high upside but I don't think Moody is held in that same regard. The Dubs like him, but he's certainly not untouchable if the right deal comes along.

They can do Wiggins Wiseman and some first round picks and throw is a Kuminga Moody because they know Gorbert is a piece they are missing a stout tall defender he won't close cause that will be draymond and a small line up unless against someone like the bucks who GSW will struggle to match up on..Gorbert is an elite big man he doesn't need to score other than lobs this deal would put GSW right there with the bucks and well and truly back ahead of the suns

And Wiggins is a lock down defender. The Jazz have been trash in the perimiter and Wiggins would fill that need.

I'm not sure if either team does Gobert for Wisemnan/Wiggins, lots of tough pills to swollow, but it's not a terrible trade.

Gobert doesn't seem like a Warriors-type player.

Realize he's improved, but I was unaware Wiggins was anything close to a lock down defender, like Tony allen

If Jazz fans think that they're going to get someone better than Wiggins for Gobert, they will likely be disappointed.

The market for a one way defensive centers with 4/170 left on their deal isn't real high is my off the cuff guess.

Better than Wiggins? Who could be better than Wiggins?

I think you're right... but why do they need to be looking for on overpaid player to trade for Gobert? It would make more sense to trade for two players that together amount to more than Wiggins... which would not be that tough.

Also, a player that averages 16 PPG on 71% shooting is not exactly a one way player, even if that's how he has been used. Capela (+ something) would make a ton of sense. Gobert is a much better version of Capela and Tre would get him the looks that the Jazz could/would not. Capela would give the Jazz a facsimile of Gobert at a much lower cost.

Not as much as Le-Can't-Do-Without-2-More-Franchise-Players does.
