Lakers Had 'Internal Discussions' To Acquire Kyrie Irving Earlier In Season

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat May 7, 2022 5:38 pm

Members of the Los Angeles Lakers organization had "internal discussions" over acquiring Kyrie Irving earlier this season, sources told Ian Begley of SNY.

The discussions took place while Irving was not able to play home games due to the COVID vaccine mandate.

Irving also did not play road games because of the Nets' choice to sit him.

Begley adds that it is unclear whether the Lakers reached a consensus on acquiring Irving.

Got to assume that was a Westbrook for Irving trade. Putting aside the logistics of a trade, it would have been quite crazy to see Westbrook/Durant/Harden and Lebron/Irving reunited, given all their histories.

Yeah it would have been kind of cool. Too bad they each all have so much baggage now.

This isn't at all newsworthy.

Of course they did, that would just make too much sense.

They should have traded LeBron for Kyrie and Harden. Kyrie could have played, Harden could have been kept or flipped for Simmons or whatever other package they wanted, Haliburton or whatever. And we would have gotten to see the KD/Bron duo everyone's always wanted. Everyone wins. Kyrie/WB/Harden or assets/Davis isn't ideal but it's way better than where they're at now. Same for the Nets who are now probably in window closed mode, LBJ could have reopened it

The Lakers can talk about it all they want. They don’t have anything that would’ve gotten Kyrie out of Brooklyn save AD. And I doubt Kyrie wants to be with Bron again. Even though I’m sure Bron would like Kyrie back.
