The Dallas Mavericks have agreed to acquire Christian Wood from the Houston Rockets for Boban Marjanovic, Sterling Brown, Trey Burke, Marquese Chriss and the No. 26 pick.
Wood is entering the final season of his contract.
The Rockets now own the third, 17th and 26th pick in next week's draft.

Good move to improve an obvious weakness for Dallas.
Waiting to see if they keep Powell as a reserve or try to move him.

What on earth is that? Why would you trade Wood for nothing? Don't get it . . . not with this team that has no salary cap issues.

He's on the last year of his deal and isn't part of their future plans. They got a late 1st and saved money. that's not nothing. I'm sure they called around.

Intriguing move by the Dallas Mavericks - strengthen their weakness in the front line significantly.
However, the key is going to be retaining Jalen Brunson.
For the Rockets, puzzled by the acquisitions - seems like the acquired lego pieces along with an additional pick - the departure of Woods means Sengun will get the opportunity showcase his skillset.

They in re-build mode, what do you think they should of got for him? He’s not an all-star, put up decent numbers on a really bad team.

I cannot understand how a your player, 6-11, 20+10 and who can shoot from outside cannot be part of anyones future?

I bet Rockets were clearing the last resistance to John Wall playing this season.

He's as good as an All Star. Just because there isn't enough room on the team for more, doesn't mean he's "not an All Star" the way you mean the phrase.
He's easily worth a top 10 pick. He plays as good as a top 10 pick. So that's the value you want in return. And by value, I don't mean 4 guys with late first round value who never play. That's not the same as a top 10 pick.
Fantasy basketball 101: trade 4 scrubs for the 1 good guy. What kind of real life GM doesn't know that?
Additionally, the Rockete were the team to get Wood before he was good. Wood made them look like good evaluators. You'd at least expect a little bit of self respect.
The Mavs are extremely difficult to beat now. An aging Warriors probably can't hold on next season. This is a Rockets rival. Clearly the Rockets owner is struggling financially. This is the worst thing since Babe Ruth to the Yankees.

I looked up this bum Rockets owner and it all makes sense now: "His portfolio includes: The Golden Nugget Hotel and Casinos; Morton's The Steakhouse; Rainforest Cafe; Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.; McCormick & Schmick's Seafood & Steaks; Saltgrass Steak House; Claim Jumper; Chart House; The Oceanaire; Mastro's Restaurants; Grotto Restaurants, The Boathouse Restaurants [27] and Vic & Anthony's Steakhouse.[28][29] In 2017 he acquired half of EMM group, owner of the Catch Restaurants.[30]"
This bum knows hes about go broke in a recession. Everything he owns is the first thing people cut spending on. Cant believe the NBA let him buy the Rockets instead of Beyonce. Jesus.

Actually, he got good on the Pistons, but they realized pretty quick that he is a head case and didn't even try to keep him around.
He's also been a head case in Houston, clashing with coaches and players at times... good players can't get away with being head cases, only superstars get away with that.
He reminds me a lot of Hassan Whiteside, he came to Miami out of nowhere, got a good contract, but has attitude issues so he has bounced around and essentially discarded because he's not good enough to warrant putting up with the attitude.
Porter Jr is in the same boat, don't be surprised to see him dumped too.

Whiteside, Porter, Biyombo all so lucky to become free agents when they did and get that bag. All went from being viewed as critical 3rd pieces in Free Agent years to complete end of the bench bums the next season.
The whole league is about to become a real-life version of NBA Jam if theyre not careful. Top to bottom rosters full of 6'7" 3andD guys chucking 3s and hammering slams the whole game.

Nice move for Mavs. Wood will be a 3rd/4th option most nights, assuming Brunson stays and THJ is still around.
On a contract year too, so he can’t afford to be a headcase and cause any drama or he’s going to feel it on his next contract.
Good pickup offensively, but won’t move the needle on defense. Hopefully Sean Sweeney sticks around and can work with him.

How can the Mavs trade this pick before draft night? They conveyed last year and owe next year to the Knicks? Steppien rule.

The trade won't be offical until after the Mavs select at 26.

Cheap stingy owner who took a loaded championship favorite, that was 1 quarter away from the NBA finals and a guaranteed title, and turned it into a bottom of the league flea market dumpster fire.
Rockets can expect this team to be relocated to Seattle or Las Vegas under Fertitta.

Apparently he's part of the future in DAL.
