Pistons Interested In Dennis Schroder As Alternative To Jalen Brunson

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Jun 20, 2022 3:51 pm

The Detroit Pistons will consider pursuing Dennis Schroder in free agency, sources tell Marc Stein of Substack.

Jalen Brunson has been a target of the Pistons, but Schroder would be a more affordable option with a similar skill-set.

Schroder signed a one-year, $5.9 million deal with the Boston Celtics last offseason and finished the season with the Houston Rockets following a deadline trade. Schroder reportedly turned down a four-year, $80 million extension with the Los Angeles Lakers during the 20-21 season.

That's some strong "We got Jalen Brunson at home" energy.

Similar skill-set?
Sure...they both play basketball. Similar positive impact on winning? Yeah, not so much, I think.

Nothing wrong with picking up Schroder, in a vacuum, but directly comparing him to Brunson is interesting.

Heh...sorry, I was unclear.

I wouldn't pick up Schroder if I was Detroit.

Not sure that he's a "similar skill set" but sure that he's a different headset.
