PJ Tucker Declines $7.4M Option With Heat For 22-23

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Jun 21, 2022 1:07 am

PJ Tucker will opt out of his $7.4 million player option with the Miami Heat for the 22-23 season to become an unrestricted free agent.

Tucker is expected to receive interest from multiple championship contending teams.

After helping the Milwaukee Bucks to the title in 2021, Tucker had another strong season for the Heat.

The Heat could increase Tucker's salary from $7.35 million to $8.4 million.

I'm guessing the heat are offering him another two year with a player option or another team has offered him more money. Dudes gotta support his shoe house.

He's 37 and he's already got a ring. I have a hard time believing he'll get a whole lot more elsewhere so this must be about years.

I think he's paid fine these days but he has to be one of the best role players of his generation and has been underpaid a lot. After next season he will be equal with Dion Waiters for career earnings at about 57M assuming he gets similar money to what he opted out of.

His value on defense has been much more than his offense. When talking about this guy, you start with his defense, Otherwise, what are you even talking about?

I don't know who is paying him more than that at 37 but it wouldn't be me. A body like that can't last much longer.

lmao you guys are dumb. Yeah he might not get more than the 7.4m he's making right now but he can still at least get a 2-3 year deal instead of opting in for one year. Why wouldn't you do that?

His "value on defense" allowed Tatum to average 25 points against him in the playoffs.

maybe he just wants to play for another team. its not all about money for a 37 year old.

The same day he "opted" out, he was on his IG at the Heat facilities hanging out with Duncan while wearing a throwback Tim Hardaway Heat jersey. this is just about getting extra years.

His defense is world class, those who question him have not watched him play. The guy is relentless.

His "value on defense" allowed Tatum to average 25 points against him in the playoffs.

So below his regular season average. Exactly.
