Lakers Unequivocally Won't Trade Anthony Davis

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Jun 22, 2022 6:15 pm

After a disappointing season and lack of viable paths for the Los Angeles Lakers to improve their roster, there has been speculation that they could consider trading Anthony Davis.

"I've been told in no uncertain terms Anthony Davis is not getting traded," said Zach Lowe on his podcast on Tuesday. "So let's get that out of the way, let alone for Kyrie Irving."

Davis signed a five-year, $190 million deal with the Lakers during the 2020 offseason. The deal includes an early termination option in 2024 and the deal will be fully up in 2025.

Davis appeared in 36 games in 20-21 and 40 games in 21-22 as he's had a number of injuries.

If he can stay healthy, he’s far better than any player they would get in return for him at this point. That’s a big if though

History has proven this won't be the case. Watch his game, he lands very poorly. A Ferrari is useless if it is always in the shop. The Lakers would be better off with a Porsche or two that can be reliable and perform.

I do watch and agree, but so do the rest of the GM’s in the league. With his injury history and length of contract I think we’re talking a couple Ford Fiestas in return lol. With the lakers existing roster, what do you think they could realistically get in return that would make them anything more than a 1st round exit?

Well yeah, the whole reason they can't get a better player is that he's never healthy.

If Lakers are serious about competing then put LeBron on the trade market. Surely you can fetch a younger stud and some draft capital.

Certainly a poor business/financial decision, but winning in LA would fix that.

Lebron is still the best player on that team, not to mention probably Top 5-10 all time, and you want to trade him?

Lebron can dictate which team he is traded to, he has one year remaining, and then he is a free agent. No team is going to trade for him unless they get assurances from him that he will resign with them.

Lebron would only want to be traded to a win-now team with lots of pieces in place
