John Wall and the Houston Rockets have agreed to a contract buyout and he plans to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers once he clears waivers.
Wall gave back $6.5 million of his $47.4 million salary with the Rockets, which is the same amount of the taxpayer mid-level exception.
Wall sat out the 21-22 season while awaiting a resolution to his contract with the Rockets.

Been a while since I saw John Wall play. But he's still a pretty young guy. Does he have anything left in the tank? Could be a crazy grab for the clips.
Did he have an A.C.L. Or was it worse?

Good signing imo. Low risk high reward possibility here for the Clippers.

Staying healthy will be his biggest challenge, but not a bad landing spot for him.

The best landing spot as far as load management and patience with injuries goes. I just want all 3 to be healthy come playoff time

So the Clippers will have a PG-SG-SF who could either play or be injured any day of the week or any week of the month or any month of the season so they will need to have three good bench players (Jackson, Mann, etc)???

Giving the mid-level exception to an injury-prone guard that hasn't played meaningful minutes in 2 years on a team with injury prone players that practice load management is not a good risk

So John Wall made $165M to play 40 games. Eat your heart out Ben Simmons!

Wall wants to play. He was injured and then held out so HOU could lose. Simmons was on his couch pouting. It's tough to draw correlation between the two situations.
Furthermore, I have a tough time understanding how fans throw shade at players when their team sends them home with the goal of losing more games. You should be at the arena throwing eggs at the owners and GM's that sent them home. Wall had the choice of staying at home or agreeing to a buyout and finding a new team this season. In either scenario he'll get paid approximately the same. You re responding to an article saying he took the buyout, so you know his decision. He wants to play and he'll essentially be playing for free. Have some respect for the player and redirect your ire towards the tam that held him hostage.

I wonder what Reggie thinks about this? How about Reggie fans?
Wall in a walking boot is a better PG than Reggie, but Reggie captured the imaginations of LAC fans last season. And we know that no one is higher on Reggie than Reggie. This should be interesting.

Also didn’t Wall complain a few years ago about Reggie making more than him (at the time) despite never making an all star team? This is goin to be funny. Also I think the clippers will pencil Wall in coming off the bench in the beginning

They had a need to upgrade at the point and Wall, talent wise, is a great pickup for the MLE. They haven't officially announced if he's signing for the MLE, but even if he does there really is no one else talented enough to make a huge contribution right away that would be willing to only take the MLE. Reggie Jackson is far better than basically any other point guard they would be able to get for the MLE since it doesn't go as far as it used to go. Wall, on the other hand, can make a difference starting or coming off the bench leading the 2nd unit.
The only drawback here is it would be nice to have that money available for Hartenstein since he was solid last year. You never know, Wall may end up signing for the minimum since he is getting 40 million from the Rockets in the buyout.
The biggest issue here is for him to stay healthy but if anyone can allow him to rest its the Clippers as they have a pretty loaded roster. If, and it is a huge if, they can stay healthy, they are definitely a contender next year.
