Bradley Beal Has No-Trade Clause In Contract With Wizards

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Jul 6, 2022 9:47 pm

Bradley Beal has a no-trade clause in his new five-year, $251 million contract with the Washington Wizards.

Beal becomes only the 10th player in NBA history to receive a no-trade clause and the only player currently who has one.

Beal also had a 15 percent trade kicker and a player option for Year 5.

The Wizards have surpassed the Kings as the most idiotic franchise in the league.

Luckily you aren't a Wiz fan.

Let us deal with that.

The Wizards don’t have fans. They fill the seats with people who get off on subjecting themselves to pain and trauma.

So now Beal really has the Wiz pinned in a corner when he asks out in a year or two. Crazy stuff.

Exactly. He can not only veto any destination he doesn’t want to go to, he can also make sure the Wizards don’t take too much take back in return so his new team will have the best pieces possible around him. The Wizards will have to rebuild after he leaves with nothing to rebuild with

Beal values money over winning. Similar to Joe Johnson back in 2010. Even though salaries sure have jumped since then. But it's not like the wizards are trash. They have hope with kuzma and porzingiz and now will Barton. Who they draft? I'm sure they have a decent rookie to groom as well as krispert.

Agreed. Beal isn't this level of player on a good day. I'd be surprised if WAS ever has home court in a playoff series with Beal on that contract... unless they trade for KD or some other true superstar. I don't see it!

so in two years when he asks for a trade, Wizards are gonna have to find a team that is willing to take on a 3-year $185M contract, because of that trade kicker. Insane.
Real question here is: Who was offering Beal more money than that ? Why did Wiz have to agree giving him a quarter of a billion and a no-trade clause?

That's absolutely insane. I have no idea why they didn't him at the beginning of the season last year. Or even in the previous summer.

That contract might end up being the worst and most crushing one in NBA history if Beal starts slumping.

Or, they will just have to bend over backward to trade him to a team of his liking, so he will wave that clause.

Yes. They're brought in by the busload, just like the January 6th protesters--except they're not being paid. True enthusiasts of self-inflicted punishment, they are.

It's a strange relationship. Neither side has any interest beyond mediocracy. But I can respect that. I guess that's most workplaces.

Sure, don't forget the busload that brought in BLM protestors from the summer of 2020, who destroyed property of innocent people while screaming bunch of equal rights slogans

No Trade Clauses are going to become a lot more common practice in the very near future.

Every single star player will demand one or they will go to a franchise that will give it.

Or.... He just wants to win in Washington. Old school, stay with one team and try to build it into a winner, and not go ring chasing around the league, drive the fricken bus.

Y'all some pessimistic people.
Maybe this works out.

He’s already shooting 30% from 3, and that was before his annual season-ending injury (which, this time, features wrist surgery).

This Celtics fan had to listen to months and months of slobbering over bringing in Beal to team up with Tatum because they are buddies — and I’m grateful that we can now stop that conversation for a solid five years.

Beal is spotty, undersized, offense-only, often-injured and doesn’t win. Good luck to him and the Wiz.
