The Detroit Pistons re-signed Rodney McGruder, sources told Keith Smith of Spotrac.


McGruder averaged 5.4 points and 2.2 rebounds in 51 games last season.

How is this guy still getting contracts? He had one decent season years ago and keeps getting signed while giving little to no production.

Wasn’t this the guy Klay and Draymond were clowning just a few years ago?

Klay even said he’s gonna be out of the league soon iirc. Props to McGruder for still staying in it.

Re-signing a 31 year old guard that's shooting threes at 40% rate for the last couple years for the league minimum seems like a reasonable deal.

With so many youngsters on the Pistons roster, his familiarity with the team and veteran locker room presence makes a good fit on the bench. Should the Pistons trade some vets by the deadline, he may be one of the only players over 24.

He was traded for Bol Bol, came back after Bol failed the physical, played hard and never complained. I think he earned some goodwill handling it well and Weaver's big on culture.
