The Boston Celtics painted Bill Russell's no. 6 into the free throw lane as part of a season-long tribute.
The team plans to honor Russell in several other ways this season. They already have tributes planned for opening night and February 12, which would have been his 89th birthday.
The Celtics will also wear Russell-inspired jerseys in several games and will include a special tribute to him on their regular jerseys.
