The Toronto Raptors are reportedly monitoring Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's situation with the Oklahoma City Thunder, sources told Josh Lewenberg of TSN.

Gilgeous-Alexander has previously played for Nick Nurse on the Canadian national team.

Gilgeous-Alexander, who is entering the first season of his new five-year extension, said that he believes the Thunder are "heading in the right direction."

lewenberg is the TSN insider in toronto. he probably got it from one of his source within the raptors organization. i wouldnt think much of it. just as fans speculated "when does SGA ask out of OKC", it would be dumb if raptors werent monitoring the situation. not much news here..


*edit: sorry, missed that you were jays and raptors fan. so i am guessing you would know lewenberg and what he does. he is like eric smith, but less prominent cause he doesnt even do any in game on-air work (i dont think), mainly post game analysis and website articles.

josh has been beat writer for tsn for a long time. for any other team, i agree he has no sources, but raptors, he has some. but as mentioned, its a nonstory since he is stating the obvious.

yeah this feels more like a common sense “well the team didn’t really make any major changes to how to get fans excited about the upcoming season” piece. Look forward to the inevitable “Barnes gained 15lbs of muscle” story in the coming days.

Barnes is special after 1 season? But sga isn't after the fact that he already has elite numbers for multiple years? I'll say Barnes is on the better team. But sga is much better right now. Nobody knows what Barnes will become in the near future. This is a stupid comment. If anything Shai is the best player on his team while Barnes is like 3rd or 4th on the raptors.

They are both good. They are both unproven. They are both overrated by their own fans. No need to fight about it.

True but the Raptors don't have anything else that could entice the Thunder into giving up their only young star (who's signed for a full 5 years starting now too). Thunder are absolutely not looking to break their best piece into smaller, lesser pieces, and definitely not for older smaller pieces. The Raptors best trade pieces--FVV, OG, Trent--aren't of interest to the Thunder.

And people keep joking about the OKC picks but they really aren't interested in more picks for its own sake at this point, they have too many and besides the whole point of the picks is to get them stars like SGA.
