Mavericks Not Interested In Ben Simmons

The Dallas Mavericks are not interested in trading for Ben Simmons, sources tell Marc Stein of Substack.

Dallas had been mentioned previously as a potential team who could pursue Simmons.

Simmons has struggled as he works his way back from offseason back surgery. 

Simmons has two more seasons remaining on his five-year, $170 million extension signed with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2019.

Technically they traded for him on draft night. But I'm guessing the rule pertains to trading for someone *after* they've signed the extension?

Nice article about Simmons' mental state. How much of that is his own doing and how much of that was the 76ers and Doc Rivers?

Then that’s exactly why the mavs need to do this trade. Luka must play 2K ‘on Hard’ or this isn’t a challenge to him. Cuban won’t be happy with just a ring - he has to have it happen after he stacks the deck against Luka lol

Plenty of teams like the Rockets and Jazz will take him if the Nets attach at least two first round picks and swaps. Jazz can trade straight up because they have High contracts to trade like Conley, Olynyk, Clarkson, and Gay.

I'd like to start off by stating I am not a fan of Greg Popovich, and I am unsure of the cap situation in SA; but I'd venture to guess the Spurs are the only destination that could benefit Ben, and benefit the team he plays for.
