Before the New York Knicks game at the Utah Jazz on Tuesday, Tom Thibodeau hinted at a potential rotation change. But Thibodeau didn't change his starting lineup as expected. Instead, he trimmed his rotation.
Evan Fournier and Quentin Grimes were both dropped from the rotation. The Knicks ran a nine-man group in a road victory over the Jazz. And Thibodeau was happy with the results.
“We wanted to see what it would look like and it gave us, I thought, better rhythm,” Thibodeau said. “That’s why we did it.”
Fournier had opened the year as a starter, but lost that role to Cam Reddish. Since then, Fournier has seen his playing time steadily decline. Grimes opened the year recovering from an injury and has yet to find the form from him promising rookie season.

Evan and vooch probably texting about the glory days in Orlando. Two very flawed players. And to think there was a bunch of Celtics fans that wanted to sign Evan to a new contract. Knicks are a joke.

This is par for the course for Thibs! "give me a couple of vets in a fox hole and lets grind it out, I am not here to develop players"
They should let the kids play and develop trade Randal, Rose and Fournier and shoot for a lottery pick.

Yup, that was the obvious choice after all he had proven already.

as a knicks fan, i'd just like to say that this is completely accurate.

but this is about a veteran essentially losing a spot in the rotation to a kid. knicks are a pretty young team.

Obviously that is what Thibs is known to do but who are the vets you're talking about? Because it's mostly been Reddish, Toppin and Quickley getting more opportunities, all guys around 23/24 years old.

My mind went to all the times Evan was proposed as the main piece in a CJ McCollum trade on the trade board.

This has been said over and over. It wasn't that it was just Grimes. Reports are they wanted RJ, Obi, Quickley AND Grimes. Which is pretty much our entire stable of young controllable players. I think if it was just Grimes, or Grimes and one of those guys, then Mitchell would be in a Knicks uni, but the Jazz wanted all of our picks and all of our young players, leaving us with a Brunson/Mitchell/Reddish/Randle/Robinson starting 5 and Rose, Fournier, Hartenstein off the bench and not much else. That team isn't really any better than what we have now but the main difference is we wouldn't have anything else to get better.
I still am fine with not making the move. It made sense for the Cavs, who were that one piece away from taking the next step. But the Knicks are in a different position at the moment, which sucks, but is the truth.

This article is saying that he dropped Fournier (our second oldest player) from the rotation. How is that what you're talking about?
