LeBron James Becomes NBA's All-Time Scoring Leader

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Feb 8, 2023 4:58 am

LeBron James has broken the NBA's career scoring record, surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's 38,387 points.

James broke Abdul-Jabbar's 39-year record with 10.9 seconds remaining in the third quarter of the Los Angeles Lakers' game on Tuesday against the Oklahoma City Thunder at Crypto.com Arena.

James accelerated his quest to break the record over the past few weeks, averaging 34 points per game in January. James entered the game 36 points away from breaking the record and he appeared determined to do so in this game rather than wait for Thursday's game against the Milwaukee Bucks.

I still like Mike, but congratulations are certainly due for Lebron. Very impressive. Don't see that record being beat

This era? You mean the no-defense era? Jordan played half his career through the historic greatest defensive era in NBA history. Any scoring achievements in that time counts for more.

I still don't see why so many people bring "never lost a finals series" as an argument. Losing earlier than the finals or not taking part in the playoffs is NOT more impressive than toreach the finals and loose there.

The only thing I have to say is, typical LeBron, goes above and beyond for himself but sits out the last few minutes in a winnable game.

But .. Congratulations on your longevity bringing you to the being all time scorer.

Yes but MJ had a GM build his team and was able to focus on playing basketball. Lebron has had to play the role of LeGM in addition to basketball duties.

There is a kid in our park, we all play real good, sometimes some of us cant go; our jobs, etc. But the kid is always there.
He's really not as good as all of us but he is always there.
If we would really check and see who has the most points, indeed it would be him.
Not because he's the best, but because he is the one playing the most games.

MJ 6-0

Kareem spent 5 years in college.
MJ 6-0 whilst getting hand checked at half court.
LeBron is the only one who thinks LeBron is the greatest of all time.

Not the goat imo but top 5 probably when all is said and done or if not 5 top 10.

He had a 4 year advantage on kareem who lived in an era where 4 year college careers were the norm but solid feat one way or the other. Takes a lot of healthy seasons to even come close to that point let alone top it

LeBron won in the weakest eastern conference era ever and never had a challenger for the finals not to mention LeBron had another superstar or 2 on his team every time and still lost more finals than he won, which proves my point. LeBron has always taken the easy way out by controlling the roster to manipulate it his way through the playoffs. Jordan took the wizards to playoffs at 40 as their leading scorer, LeBron has 2 other hall of famers and can’t get the lakers into the play in! Also there is no way Jordan would stop the game to celebrate and he sure as hell would have never celebrated if the team had lost the game. LeBron all fame, Jordan all game.
