Ime Judoka Emerges As Candidate For Hawks

The Atlanta Hawk are considering Ime Udoka for their head coaching vacancy, sources tell Marc Stein of Substack.

The Boston Celtics recently elevated Joe Mazzulla to permanent head coach, replacing Udoka. The Celtics suspended Udoka for the entire 22-23 season due to a relationship with a staff member that the team deemed a violation of team policy.

The Brooklyn Nets were close to hiring Udoka as the replacement for Steve Nash before instead keeping Jacque Vaughn in the position permanently.

Nate McMillan was fired as head coach of the Hawks on Tuesday.

Eh, Boston’s doing just fine without him. Maybe even better if I may add.

If you want a coach to get your young, petulant star to buy in, and maybe bed your female staff, Ime’s that guy. And while Boston has stopped talking about him, they did let it be known last week they have cut ties with him in removing Joe Mazzulla’s “interim coach” label.

Yeah, it's baffling in this age of NBA media coverage that more details from the escapade have not been revealed by now.

Eh, Boston’s doing just fine without him. Maybe even better if I may add.

Yep, that's my thinking. Udoka had a top notch roster but their record is better without him.

Not at all. But he was suspended for a reason. Whatever he did was bad enough that a team that just went to the finals suspended their coach for the season. They eventually decided that the situation was bad enough that they couldn't envision his return to the organization. I think teams should let him serve out that suspension and wait until next season to hire him... if they think he's that guy, which I personally don't.
