Trae Young responded to a report from The Ringer that indicated the front office of the Atlanta Hawks have the authority to trade anyone on their roster this offseason, even Trae Young. 

Young said nobody within the Hawks has told him he could be traded, but “stuff like that comes out all the time.” 

“It could be false, could be true, you never know,” Young said.

Young was also asked if the Hawks' Play-In games felt bigger as they can determine his fate with the franchise.

“It’s hard – you can’t look at it.

“Especially as the player in the moment, you can’t look at what’s gonna come on next year,” Young said. “After the game, if the game doesn’t go your way tonight, what’s gonna happen? Like, you can’t focus on things like that. That messes up your head and then you’re not ready to play so, me, I’m not worried about that. I’m gonna let my game play. After the season, whatever happens, happens. I mean, I’m focused on the next task at hand. I can’t worry about the outside noise or whatever fake stories come out, or what’s true, whatever.”

I think his argument is, he should be held to the same standard as Luka or Kyrie. And I agree. Trae, Luka, Dame are all exciting players who can get buckets but they play zero Defense nor even attempt it. They all should get the same negative light.

I don't think GMs are concerned about defense when targeting guys like Young, Doncic, or Dame. You can build a team that plays good defense collectively around those types of players to "make up" for their deficiencies. Curry isn't a strong defender imo and they still won titles. While individual defense is important I think a strong team defense is even more so.

These guys are all just “offense only” players and we celebrate them all day while cursing and advocating trading Trae for doing the same thing… while this year he won more.

I’m just calling out the hypocrisy of it.

Agreed- but we have only seen one team win with a offense only guard leading the team and that guard was CURRY and these guys are not Curry… and curry doesn’t do this without a Draymond i posit

Gotta be - because he just like Luka, Dame, Kyrie, Beal, Ja and all the other offense only guards in the NBA. Getting them buckets -

10th in points and first in assist - but damn near last in defense…. Everyone else getting love from the fans but he getting hate for doing the same damn thing but winning a little more this year lol.

You truly sound like those guys that say winning cures all; it doesn't. I stand by what I said, play-in, playoffs, or not. This Trae experiment needs to come to an end sooner rather than later.

Why...are you a hawks fan, season ticket holder or owner?

My guess is Trae leaves the hawks and plays in the nba next year...so he becomes someone else’s point guard that is 10th in scoring and leading the league in assist and the best player on a team that just won a play-in game over Miami....same Miami that beat the mavs in a must win game with a healthy Luka and Kyrie. Two guards that I personally think are better than trae...but the fact is trae just balls and is winning. I can’t hate on that...and winning cures all OR should

Would you rather have a talented guy that’s always hurt or a talented guy that isn’t in playoffs or a talented guy that isn’t hurt and is in the playoffs? I’m not a trae apologist but I think this guy is under rated at this point
