Miles Bridges Suspended 30 Games By NBA For Domestic Violence Incident

The NBA is suspending Miles Bridges for 30 games with 20 games considered already served.

Bridges was arrested and charged with multiple domestic violence counts on June 27, 2022. Bridges entered a plea of no contest to a felony domestic violence charge on November 3, 2022 and the remaining counts against him were dismissed.

Bridges will serve the remaining 10 games at the start of the 23-24 season.

Bridges did not sign a contract with any team for the 22-23 season.

This means that he will be back in Charlotte next year. A lot more cheaply than before the incident.

How can he be suspended if he isn't on a team, employed to play games?

So Charlotte didn’t sign him on purpose so they could tank with LaMELO hurt… now they’re going to extend the qualifying offer or give him a lowball long term contract. Good for them!

Soo pathetic, only 30 games for beating a woman?Didn't OJ Mayo get like 2 years for doing cocaine? And how has he already served 20? He's not even on a team yet!

The NBA consider 20 games already served because he wasn't able to sign a contract with any team because of the charges and so has technically lost that income since the charges were laid against him. I'm with you though - NBA drug policy has always been a wild one and suspension should have definitely been bigger.

He should have been suspended for at least 12 months and I don't care if he did not play this season that's because the Hornets didn't have him under contract.

And the Hornets didn't have him under contract because of the charges. Do you see how this works?

Oh I fully get that, I wouldn't have that guy on my team. But the games suspended should not be 30 in the first place it should be 50-100, players have been suspended for more that that for less than this. And to give him 20 off as "time servered" when there was no contract and he couldn't have played anyhow is just wrong in too many ways.
