Joe Dumars Emphasizes Draymond Green's Status As 'Repeat Offender' Led To Suspension

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Apr 19, 2023 3:31 pm

Joe Dumars explained the NBA's decision to suspend Draymond Green for Game 3 of the first round series between the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings. Green stepped on the sternum of Domantas Sabonis after Sabonis grabbed Green's leg while trying to run up the floor.

“Here’s what it came down to: Excessive and over-the-top actions, conduct detrimental and a repeat offender," said Dumars to ESPN. "That’s what separates this where you end up with a suspension.”

Dumars said he tried to ignore the fact that the Kings are up 2-0 in the series.

“You know what the situation is, but you have to set that aside and look at the facts in front of you…Repeat offender weighs as heavy as anything.”

Before joining the league office, Dumars was a consultant for the Kings.

I struggle to think of a more despicable player in NBA history than Draymond. He obviously goes out there and frequently, actively tries to hurt players. He hardly even veils it. He celebrated what happened the other night. Even just isolating it to the last game he deserves a suspension.

Of course they're mad about it, they lost the only bit of defense they even have. Dray cannot keep playing with a different rulebook, and he needs to be penalized much sooner each game and not let him get away with all that crap, which always leads up to a really egregious dirty play right near the end of the game. Get him out before he effects more games negatively.

I find it almost laughable that the league feels they need to justify the suspension. If Sabonis had stomped on Steph Curry's chest he'd be out for the rest of the playoffs.

If you're actually considering his history you're making it a multi-game suspension.
The good thing about BI is he can shoot over defenders.
The bad thing about BI is he can shoot over defenders.

How about literally any enforcer up until like 10 years ago? Yeah it was a dirty play and he should get suspended but let's not get silly

Dude was an executive for the Kings less than a year ago, that’s not a conflict or interest or anything…

Conflict of interest would be evidenced by 2 or more games without an explanation to substantiate it. 1 game with an explanation is going easy on him.
