NBA Considering Changing All-Star Game Format Back To East Vs. West

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat May 20, 2023 3:00 am

The NBA is discussing changes to the All-Star Game, including switching from the current player draft back to the Eastern Conference versus Western Conference format.

The NBA and NBPA agreed to talk about increasing the competitiveness of the game as part of the new collective bargaining agreement.

The changes could into play come as early as the 2023-24 season.

In my opinion one of the biggest if not the biggest issue is the new scoring format. The fact that each quarter is a separate mini game makes it feel like less of a game. Then the last quarter isn’t even based on a game clock which I think is just plain stupid. Stats show that since they switched to this format, way less people watch it.

Just cancel it. What a waste of time.

Also, aren't our children worth more than the revenue the league generates from sports betting?

Much necessary.

If you want to do draft, then you have to go with the best 24 players in the NBA, not 12 of each conference. Then, if you continue with that, then made east vs west.

The AllStar game has become an embarrassing joke. They need to fix it, but it was broken when it was East vs West too. The players lack competence move fire, and are too scared to play D in case they get dunked on or crossed over.

Used to be a bit of rivalry. Now non existent because players change conferences more regularly.

Maybe Adam Silver is starting to realise that these gimmicks don't move the needle.
