Scoot Henderson Views Both Hornets, Blazers As Good Situations

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed May 31, 2023 3:39 pm

Scoot Henderson is "very interested" in being drafted second overall by the Charlotte Hornets, sources tell Jonathan Givony of ESPN.

Henderson grew up in Marietta, Georgia, so playing for the Hornets would allow him to remain close to his hometown.

Henderson also views being selected No. 3 by the Portland Trail Blazers and being mentored by Damian Lillard as "an attractive option."

There is a belief that Henderson, Lillard and Shaedon Sharpe could play together.

The Hornets are also considering Brandon Miller at No. 2.

Scott + Lamelo would be pretty tough fit, both lose good bit of value if they can't bring the ball up and initiate. Guess Scoot could slide over to the 2 (esp with Lamelo being so tall) but it's not ideal.

Also CHA is pretty dang far from Atlanta, almost 5 hours when I drive between them. That's closer than playing in like California but it's not really 'close to home.'

Idk. Not like they're going anywhere right now, wouldn't hurt to try it. Lamelo is a creative player, great passer, has been a solid shooter. He could work off Scoot for 15 minutes a game or whatever as you stagger them. And then you get (theoretically) elite PG play 48 minutes a game. They should be in straight BPA mode regardless, but if Lamelo is really gonna be a great player he should be able to make it work.

The Hornets already have the undersized scoring guard in Rozier and previously had Graham. Have either moved the needle for them? No.

The Blazers didn't go anywhere with Dame and McCollum. Adding Scoot won't change that outcome.
