Thunder Waive Rudy Gay

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Jul 20, 2023 1:50 am

The Oklahoma City Thunder have waived Rudy Gay.

The Thunder acquired Gay via the Atlanta Hawks, who previously traded for him as part of the John Collins trade with the Utah Jazz.

Gay appeared in 56 games last season, averaging 5.2 points and 2.0 rebounds in 14.6 minutes with the Jazz.

Thunder are going to be good this year. They could’ve used Gay for leadership and locker room presence… maybe moved his contract as a part of a bigger trade closer towards the deadline.

I figured they'd keep him for veteran presence but I can understand there's too many guys on their roster right now.

I’m assuming he’ll end up a sun but I hope that’s not the case.

With the Bol Bol signing, we the Suns have a complete roster.
We would have to waive a player.

Would love to see him back in MEM. If he wants playing time, DAL, ATL and PHI need depth at PF.

I suppose it depends on what he wants to do with his career now.. but I think him and Chris Paul would play very well together in a slow paced half court setting. Warriors should look into it.

Should go to Houston. They need all the vets they can get to balance out their youth.

Yes they should sign every washed free agent that is out there, then start them all over their youthful talent, and get some LA style adult diaper sponsors for the arena instead of crypto.
