Reggie Bullock To Sign With Rockets

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Oct 3, 2023 12:37 pm

Reggie Bullock plans to sign with the Houston Rockets. Bullock was recently waived by the San Antonio Spurs. San Antonio had acquired Bullock in a salary-clearing move from the Dallas Mavericks. That trade brought Grant Williams to the Mavs from the Boston Celtics.

Bullock is a career 38.4% three-point shooter. He's also a solid defender on the wing. The Rockets have made several veteran signings this summer, including Fred VanVleet, Dillon Brooks, Jeff Green and Jock Landale. Houston is hoping the veterans will allow new head coach Ime Udoka to lift and otherwise young team into playoff contention.

I don't understand why he asked for a buyout just to end up on a team similar to the Spurs but ok.

There’s no way the Spurs were going to give him minutes, while the Rockets are in the process of dumping Kevin Porter Jr, which will open up plenty of shots and minutes for him.

Maybe that's the case. Amen plays backup PG and Bullock is either at backup SG or SF. Seems like there's a lot of wing players already but maybe Tate will get traded very soon.

Think more @ the 2 behind Green - Whitmore & Eason are gonna be prioritized @ forward along with 20M Dollar Man Brooks. There cld be a money angle - HOU has overpaid all of their vet signings, so maybe this was more money than the min deal he’d get with a contender …

Also on the SA side - they’re goin thru a roster crunch. It’s why they also cut Payne, another seemingly useful vet. Even with those two moves I believe they still have roster decisions to make …

Had to with that handle. Nas is one of my all time faves … respect

to be clear, most’a the Rox stuff is speculation. Don’t think any contract deets have bn released - like u, I was expecting him to sign with a contender …

Salute!
Yeah we shall see how the Rockets do. I like the direction they are going with by adding vets. I saw Boban was re-signed as well recently.

It was previously reported that he was bought out, but this article says he was waived. Either way, it was probably the Spurs idea, not his.

Iam amazed he chose the Rockets. He’s a solid vet that could help any contender.

The Rockets are a little bit further along in their rebuild than the Spurs as evidenced by their decision to go all in on vets this summer.
I'd also guess having a coach like Udoka didn't hurt either.

And as was mentioned the dismissal of Porter would seem to open up minutes behind Jalen Green.
