New Oklahoma City Thunder Arena Approved By Voters

Oklahoma City residents approved a ballot measure to build a new downtown stadium for the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday.

The proposed stadium has an estimated minimum cost of $900 million. The city will use at least $850 million in taxpayer funds to build the arena, with the Thunder contributing $50 million dollars.

The majority of the stadium will be funded by a six-year penny sales tax starting in 2028.

The ballot passed by 70%.

Oh, a $4 billion plus valuation for the Thunder, and the owner can only pony up $50 million for a new stadium???

City council should be voted out of office at the earliest opportunity.

Its bs but the team will just leave unless they do it. The crap has to stop though like Amazon getting discounts to set up shop in another state or money actually invested to them its a race to the bottom with the very richest being subsidized.. The USA is socialism for the rich and boot straps for the rest.
