Pistons Could Target OG Anunoby, Tobias Harris Via Trade

The Detroit Pistons are mired in a 22-game losing streak. That has the team asking a lot of questions about both their short- and long-term future.

One thing Detroit is considering is whether or not it's time to make a trade. A player the team reportedly has interest in is OG Anunoby of the Toronto Raptors. However, there is a sense the Pistons could wait and pursue Anunoby as a free agent this summer. The Raptors forward has a player option that he's expected to decline for next season.

Another potential target is familiar face Tobias Harris of the Philadelphia 76ers. Harris would cost less to acquire than Anunoby, and Detroit is familiar with his skillset. Harris played parts of three seasons for the Pistons from 2015-16 through 2017-18.

there is no chance the Pistons trade assets for an expiring player who could and probably would walk at the end of the year... now taking back overpaid players with years left on their contract and being paid draft compensation to do so i could see them doing

Seems like the usual smoke for leveraging to me.

I'm starting to wonder if some pieces may not return as much as people want at this point. Or perhaps a deal is close and they are trying to get people to ante up more.

Exactly this. Why trade for a star rental when you're the worst team in the league?

Id do Og for Asur, can center a deal around that. Ogs been looking for an expanded role can do that in Detroit, and dont think raps tryna pay both pascal and OG to the max just yet

Anyone that gives OG the max will have made a mistake. He's great... just not that great. And DET is nowhere near ready to start adding max guys. They need to revamp that entire roster. Besides, I don't see OG staying in DET if they did trade for him. Not when a teams like PHI, ORL and IND will have cap space next summer.
