Wizards Want To Re-Sign Tyus Jones, Looking To Take On Salary For Draft Picks

The Washington Wizards are interested in re-signing Tyus Jones this offseason, sources told Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

Jones is set to become an unrestricted free agent.

Should the Wizards decide to trade Jones, they would be looking for a first-round pick that could be in the top 20.

The Wizards are also expected to use their trade exceptions to take on salaries in exchange for picks and young players.

It's his 9th year in the league and he's only ever been a bench guy and most recently a spot starter, mostly due to his lack of size.
He's not worth a FRP unless a contender thinks he'll be the bench piece they need to push their depth over the top, and even then, it's likely a rental.
Saying they want to re-sign him is bait to push the price up, sure they might want to keep him at his current salary, but they'd much rather have a FRP.
