The Miami Heat have acquired Terry Rozier from the Charlotte Hornets for Kyle Lowry and a lottery protected first round pick in 2027. If the pick doesn't convey, it becomes unprotected in 2028.

He's a player I thought the Knicks should go after but good on the Heat for the same reasons, scoring/playmaking and a defense around him strong enough to cover. Nice trade.

A buy out and Knick signing would be absolutely perfect. Lord the amount of charges at the PG position would be magical

The return seems really light, a late 1st?

Free up cap space, they'll have more than $60 Mill in free agency this summer.

CHA when the Lakers call:
"We'll need D-Lo, Hachimura, Christie, Hood-Schifino, and three future 1sts."
CHA when Miami calls:
"We'll take 38 year-old Kyle Lowry and a 1st. Have a good day."
Can't make this stuff up.

Great deal for the Heat. I would've thought the Hornets could get more in return for Terry...a probable late round 1st and the corpse of Kyle Lowry seems like a pretty pathetic return. I don't follow the Hornets really but I figure this is probably about freeing up opportunity and cap.

Well...Kupchak is still in charge of the Hornets. So not a surprise. Plus, Meddling Mitch isn't very good at building teams either (he's good at destroying them though). So glad the Laker Kupchak years are so far gone that I've almost forgotten them.

Lowry actually fits the hornets playing style. In a very weird way. It's lemelo team at guard. But that trade is very suspect. Makes no sense for charlotte on any level. Feels like a deal to put Miami back in the mix. There a finals team again. Butler, roizer, bam, herro, vascaz, with a nice bench Duncan Robinson, k.love, Josh rich, Thomas Bryant, jovik. With the heat it's the culture that gets them far. Not talent. Good coaching, with mentally tough mentality, great defense scheme.

I heard Hayward will be a free agent. Who else will be out there? Of those, who's going to CHA? Cap space doesn't help when no one wants to be there. With the new rule that teams must be at the salary floor by opening day, will CHA need to give out garbage contracts to get there?

Did Terry ask for a trade? Other than that this trade makes no sense for Charlotte. You could argue cap space but not to diss Charlotte but there isn't a huge free agency market there.
Nonetheless if you are Miami you take this deal and run.

Yeah, I don't think it's a good a trade as you all seem to think. 1) He's a terrible defender. Like bottom couple percent of the entire league. 2) He's an inefficient chucker. 57% true shooting puts him 242nd in the league (and several spots lower than Lowry). I think the only upside is health and availability. Otherwise, I don't think this moves the needle like at all.

A lot of hate for a guy who won 4 rings and reached 6 Finals after taking over from Jerry West in 2000.

Well, I'd maybe credit Kupchak 2 rings.....mayybe. West was the one that drafted Kobe and signed Shaq in '96. The Gasol trade in '08 was interesting as West was the GM with the Grizz till '07 and there was a lot of chatter about that and the Laker's connection.
I don't think Kupchak is necessarily bad, but his body of work is really not the greatest overall and given far too much credit for the Lakers between 2000-2017. Certainly has done bupkis since.
