The Orlando Magic have been "increasingly mentioned" as a potential landing spot for Klay Thompson this summer, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line.
Thompson is set to become an unrestricted free agent.
The Magic could have as much as $45 million in cap space if they decide to move on from Markelle Fultz, Gary Harris, and Jonathan Isaac.

only because they have cap space. I dont see it. They like what Suggs is turning into. yes, he isnt Klay, but Klay isnt Klay anymore. No reason to blow your cap space on past-his-prime Klay.

Agreed. That would be an example of bad capspace management. You look for value, not for names.

Idk
We need shooting and he has nice size for a sg
But this would only work if Suggs moves to pg

Suggs has shown, he isnt a fulltime PG.

This thought has to occurred me recently as well.
The Orlando Magic and Klay could be a great fit.
Magic could have a lot of cap space for next season, and signing Klay would give them a good 3 point shooter and a veteran presence on a young roster, and he brings major championship experience with him.
Klay probably still has a few good years of ball left in him. His 3 pointing shoot is still above average, and although he is not a great defender anymore, the Magic are currently one of the top rated defenses in the Association and they can cover for him on defense.

dont get me wrong, i would take Klay. im not taking Klay at $30mil+/yr. and he has no reason to come to Orlando otherwise

Klay isn't the same Klay. Nobody should be giving him a big payday, especially not a young team. And really, the warriors aren't likely to have any decent options for replacing him, so I expect they would match any reasonable offer.

Offf.. with the impact JI has on winning with his defense is it worth giving that up for a washed Klay Thompson?

Is this the a good reason the take that risk if it takes losing JI?

Isn't Jonathan Isaac signed for another season? How would they 'move on' from him to get Klay anyway?

I'm not saying signing Klay Thompson is a move the Magic should consider. That seems like an odd fit for both player and team. But, Jonathan Isaac's contract is non-guaranteed for next season. So, the Magic could cut ties and immediately create cap space. I don't know that I'd say that's a good idea, either. Isaac isn't exactly lighting it up every night, but I can only see cutting him loose for cap space if it's a giant free agent signing. Not a declining Klay. No offense to Klay, he's probably a future HOFer.

I’m not giving on Isaac. He is a difference maker in the few minutes he plays

Orlando needs shooting but bringing in Klay would take away minutes from their younger players like Suggs.

Unless Klay wants to come in on a very team friendly deal Orlando is out of the question. We need a PG that plays D and can hit 3s and Klay is not that.

I don't even know if Klay's experience is relevant to Orlando, other than "knowing what a great org culture looks like."
Klay was never a #1 scoring option / top dog on a winning NBA team, so he wasn't "the man" carrying all the pressure like Lebron/Curry etc... He can't teach Paolo or Franz how to grow into that role.
And he was never even the #2 alpha/leader in an NBA lockeroom (Curry/Monta/Lee even RJ were already established vets in GS when Klay was a rookie). And later Dray and Iguodala had that crown ahead of Klay.
Klay has also shown (at times) very visible insecurity after his injuries (the ring counting taunt from the bench and his recent spats with reporters and incredulity with benching)
Not exactly the pinnacle of mental toughness for a young team. He has more closely resembled Melo in OKC -- e.g. mocking reporters to PG13 in the presser where they asked about a possible bench role -- more than he resembles Iggy in GS.
If I was adding him as a veteran presence, I would expect for him to provide what Richard Jefferson did in Cleveland and not much more. That is hardly worth the price tag of a big FA contract though -- if he isn't producing on the court.
