Porter is not eligible to appear on the playoff roster of any team this season.
The Jazz acquired Porter from the Toronto Raptors at the trade deadline and had been away from the team.

Why? What do they owe him or other playoff teams? Jazz should only care about themselves just players only care about themselves. OPJ isn’t some longtime Jazz player that Utah felt like they needed “to do right by” either.

Looks like they gave him about a month post trade to see where he was at... and that is nowhere.
He's obviously cooked, played a whopping 23 games total in the last 2 seasons. And choosing to retire before he's even 31.

I haven't read much on this, but am I missing something? Is there any evidence that the Jazz wouldn't have been willing to do this earlier? I just assume the Jazz were in regular contact and waiting on Porter to figure his situation out.
If he was healthy enough and wanted to sign with a contender, it would have happened. The Jazz would have bought him out for the pro-rated amount of a minimum deal and wished him well.
