Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Apr 3, 2024 7:51 pm

Ja Morant and his agent, Jim Tanner, have parted ways.

Tanner had represented Morant since he left Murray State in 2019 and became the No. 2 overall pick.

Tanner represented Morant when they negotiated a five-year, $197 million contract in 2022.

Tanner also represents Jarrett Allen, Desmond Ban, Cam Thomas andJeremy Sochan.

Firing your agent? Oh he's looking to leave.

He should fire his little clique. He was here in Orlando and had them boys with him.

I’ll never understand the need for star players to not only hang around bad influence people, but people mooching off them

People are brought up from a super young age to be loyal to friends. It never surprises me when I see it.

It's hard to trust new people who only met you AFTER you are worth 200M dollars.

Exactly. And once the leeches have sucked up all the money, it’s the same original friends that will welcome him back with open arms. The other side is that the thugs have probably fronted money or taken the fall for any mistakes said player has made earlier in life so the whole team doesn’t fumble the bag.

RE: "fronted money" no one was loaning Morant anything based on pro potential

Ja Morant wasn't on anyone's blue chip radar in HS.

He was 5'9 for half his career, was not ranked at all as a college prospect, and was discovered completely by accident when a Murray State coach randomly stumbled on him playing pickup.

Morant got 0 power-5 conference offers and only 5 offers total (including his alma mater)

Pittsburgh's Duquesne (TJ McConnell) was the only program who offered Morant that most people would even recognize -- and Duquesne last had a player drafted in 1994. No first rounders in almost 50 years.

Safe bet Morant's ties are not from fear of gang loan reprisal.

I think we're talking about players in general here. Ja definitely does not fit the Iverson-mold that we're discussing and that he's trying to emulate.
