Reminder that no player has ever come close to leaving a team in restricted free agency that really wanted to keep him and was willing to pay. These threats don't carry much weight.

What does this have to do with anything? They will offer him big money and he will take it.

What's so bad about Cleveland? The city and the people seem to be okay after all...

My only question is, what makes OKC so much better?

Real crappy weather esp during the winter. More overcast than Toronto, which makes it gloomy. Toronto is colder, but CLE gets about 25% more precipitation year round which also...dampens...the mood. Muggy summers.
City wise, there are some really bad poverty stricken areas left by the industrial void. 35% poverty rate, government corruption, job scarcity, lack of education, lack of diversity, schools are kind of bad and there's a lot of brain drain from those who DO graduate from a higher education program. The waterfront is so promising but they fumbled the bag on it hard - kind of similar to Toronto. There's no real good waterfront scene, which is such a waste for both cities.

It's warmer, I guess. You know how these NBA guys love their warm weather...

Okay, but you can say most of that about Detroit, Chicago, Philadelphia, LA, San Francisco and every other NBA town.
As a multimillionaire you can live a good life anywhere in North America.

There is one example of a lotto guy who wanted out early and took his QO: Greg Monroe. But that was a cautionary tale for players, not for teams. Then there's the whole Nerlens Noel saga. But again, players should have learned by now you just take the money and worry about location after the fact.

Both those situations were about teams not wanting to pay them beyond a certain amount. Could throw in Ben Gordon and CHI to that boat too. All of those involved reasonable financial decisions by both sides--the team didn't want to hand out the deal the player wanted, and the player had reason to think they could re-coup the money in UFA. (Teams have come out looking good in all of those situations.)
That's totally different from a player the team really wants to keep refusing to sign an extension and taking the QO to get himself free of a team he doesn't want to be on. That's never happened and, while it's not impossible that itd' happen under some circumstances, it's way less interesting or realistic of an option than many fans and realgmers seem to think.

I thought Monroe more wanted out of Detroit rather than they wouldn't pay him. He was a bad fit with Drummond.

Chicago, LA and San Fran typically have more things that multimillionaires gravitate towards in terms of lifestyle. Detroit I guess would be similar to Cleveland, and it's also why no free agents go there either.
