Jarrett Allen Rib Injury Frustrated Members Within Cavs

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu May 16, 2024 5:38 am

Members of the Cleveland Cavaliers were frustrated by the way Jarrett Allen handled his rib injury, sources told The Athletic.

Allen was elbowed by Franz Wagner in Game 1 of their first-round series against the Magic. The move "pierced" a rib on Allen's right side.

Allen was listed as questionable for every Cavs game after the initial injury, though he was not close to playing.

There was frustration among people in the team that Allen refused an injection to numb the pain and play.

This seems like fairly dubious reporting. One source says that Allen has a "pierced" rib. And even though reporters know this isn't a thing, they continue to site the original story, putting the word "Pierced" in quotes. They are all writing and rewriting the same story. :nonono:

Maybe one of you buffoons that claims to have sources should actually do some investigating and uncover an actual diagnosis of Allen's injury. Breaking news... it's not a "pierced" rib! :vent:

Sounds like he has either a fracture or bruise.

"There was frustration among people in the team that Allen refused an injection to numb the pain and play." This line right here is something I didn't expect to see or hear from an NBA team. The NFL? Yes. However, not the NBA.

I think in any sport this needs to be taken with a grain of salt because it can be a real character assassination for an athlete. Could the team physician guarantee that he would not make the injury worse by playing. Remember when Isaiah Thomas toughed it out for Boston? These are human beings and it can affect their whole livelihood.

Yeah, I got that. His rib could be almost anything other than "pierced". The nature of the injury doesn't concern me nearly as much as the crappy reporting around the injury.
