The Cleveland Cavaliers are increasingly expected to sign Evan Mobley to a max contract extension this summer, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line.

The Cavs are also growing confident of signing Donovan Mitchell to a contract extension. 

Mobley's agents reportedly cautioned the Cavs about drafting the player with the third pick of the 2021 NBA Draft.

Should the Cavs succeed in re-signing both Mobley and Mitchell, Jarrett Allen would be a trade target for teams around the league.

Max rookie extension, make him like the 40-50th highest paid player in the league. That is indeed what 3rd year guys who average 16/9 and play good defense get. (Especially those who just put up 21/10/3 in a big PO series.)

Do you really think they should let him walk because they want to pay him like $7m/year less?

Top 3 defender in the league? C'mon now. Go check DPY voting and/or advanced stats. Guaranteed he'll get zero votes for the upcoming all defensive teams as well. I'm not saying Mobley shouldn't be extended or isn't a pretty good defender, but you might be the only person in the world that actually believes this besides Mobley's mom.

Is common sense still a thing lol last year Mobely was the 2nd youngest player to make all defensive 1st team. The only other player to do it younger the late great Kobe Bryant. The only reason he won't this year is because he missed to many games. Also he managed to average 16 and 9 being the 4th scoring option. That is high efficiency. He has already proved when he is the 2nd option to put up 25 and 12 lol

You do realize majority of NBA analyst already believe he is a top 3 defense of player. If it wasn't for only playing 50 games he would have been in the running for defensive player of the year and all defense 1st team again. In only his second year last year when he was healthy all year he became the 2nd youngest player to achieve all defensive 1st team with also finishing 3rd in dpoy in only his 2nd year in the NBA lmao

I suspect brunson isn't qualified as he isnt on the max (which is obviously a good thing for the knicks). Do the knicks have anyone on the max or due to be extended on the max?
