The Denver Nuggets were a popular pick to repeat as champion, but they were ultimately eliminated in the second round by a Minnesota Timberwolves team with the requisite size and defense to slow down three-time MVP Nikola Jokic.

While Anthony Edwards Karl-Anthony Towns, Jaden McDaniels and Naz Reid were in place before the arrival of Tim Connelly, the former Nuggets' executive traded for both Rudy Gobert and Mike Conley with the roster being particularly well suited to play against Denver.

"I mean, I think they're built to beat us," Jokic said. "Just look at their roster. They have basically two All-Stars, two probably first-team defensive players. Mike Conley is the most underrated player in the NBA, probably.

"From the bench, they have a Sixth Man of the Year. ... [They are] one team that they can do literally everything. They can be big, small."

They're my pick to win it all, complete team with an emerging bonafide superstar in Edwards. The NBA is pushing Edwards to be the face of the league and they are getting generous calls that otherwise they dont get.

They just shocked everyone this year. Nobody thought they were this good. I'm shocked tbh. They figured it out on the defensive side and we're already gifted offensively. People may have thought Mike Conley was washed up,but he's a true pg. Im slowly coming to like them. I'm not a fan. But I respect there hard work to improve over years of struggling. I still feel there missing another scorer off the bench. At this point it's an upset if they lose now. Swept by kd,booker, beal with the ease. Took out the champs. But I'd rather see any of the remaining teams win it besides them.

I think so too. Boston plays too lackadaisical at times.

Jokic is the best player in the world by a mile. Its very disappointing Denver went the cheap road this season. If he was a LeBron type insecure personality he would go and join some other top end talent but he's built different and i'm glad he is. Its hard to win however if Murray is playing like garbage (and he did all series, and also in the 2nd half of the decisive game). Not only does he miss everything but he stubbornly continues to chuck up selfish low iq shots just to "get his rhythm" like thats more important than the team success. MPJ basically was an empty hull of the guy who earns a huge amount of money for absolutely nothing. AG disappeared and so did KCP. It was 1.5 players vs. 5 in the crucial game and its both the FO and the coaches fault. Whoever uses this to argue against Jokics greatness is just a sad hater.
