Kenny Atkinson and James Borrego have emerged as early candidates for the Cleveland Cavaliers' head coaching vacancy.

Atkinson was last a head coach in 2020 with the Brooklyn Nets where he coached current Cavaliers Jarrett Allen and Caris LeVert. Atkinson has most recently been an assistant coach with the Golden State Warriors.

Borrego was previously a head coach with the Charlotte Hornets and is currently an assistant coach with the New Orleans Pelicans.

Cleveland parted ways with J.B. Bickerstaff this week.

The new coach will equal the same results if you keep this roster in place...Gotta gotta pick between Garland and Mitchell, then pick between Mobley and Allen..

It’s insane that Kenny Atkinson doesn’t have a HC gig. I understand that’s largely by choice. This should be a no-brainer for both parties.

As to why it’s taken so long for the Cavs to look at getting switchier players than playing two small guards and two bigs, I have no idea.

True, although Mitchell might make half of that decision for them. They should get a pretty big haul by moving any combination of the players you mention. They need to find a way move on from LeVert as well.
