Bronny James will stay in the 2024 NBA Draft as an Early Entry Candidate. The deadline for NCAA players to withdraw from the draft and return to college is Wednesday, May 29. James will not be returning to USC, nor transferring.

James began the pre-draft process as a likely undrafted player. After the draft combine and workouts, James has moved solidly into second-round range. He may climb even higher after NCAA and international players with draw from the draft.

Already regarded as a solid defender, James has shown improvement as a shooter and playmaker in the pre-draft process. He's also filled out his frame and has cleared every medical test. The latter was crucial after he surgery to repair a heart defect last summer.

I just don't understand it... If he stayed for another year in college he could further develop, contribute more on the floor and increase his draft stock. He must think he's shown enough in the combine to be picked somewhere in the draft. This is a huge gamble and I don't think its a good move. Best of luck to him.

I imagine this has less to do with his development or further contributions. His father's name is LeBron and that's what GMs will consider first and foremost and waiting another year would make sense for any other player with his skill level. But I don't think he is looking at joining an NBA roster the same way a college kid on the brink of a 2nd rounder pick looks at his future.

He’s staying in the draft because a team has committed to drafting him. It’s not rocket science. College basketball is not the same as the NBA. If you had a goal of working at Google and they said we will hire you even though you’re not at your full potential yet but we will put you in our training program to get you up to speed. Are you going to turn down the guaranteed job at Google to continue to work at montresslegend llc in hopes of improving your skills to work at Google?

He's a g leaguer talent who has a famous father... like in the real world... or govt ... just look at clown Trudeau in Canada, lol... prime example.

If he was borderline undraftee in this weak draft, what you think he is gonna do on a deeper draft lol

raising his draft stock isnt important, getting drafted and not being on a two way deal are what matter to him. Rn he has the excuse of dysfunction at usc(true) and heart attack for his poor stats in college. If he goes back and still sucks, teams wont touch him. all he can do is hurt himself. Hes a second round pick, thats all. second, a team has promised probably promised him something. players DO move up like this in workouts. if he really needs development, the south bay lakers have done a great job in building up players for the last 6-7 years.

He has a guarantee, his father knows and advised him to stay.

This has Lebron's ego written all over it. He's been talking about playing with his son for years, and screw developing further and getting a higher draft position, the old man wants him on the team now.

"Solid defender" is another way of saying he can't shoot.
