The NBA is nearing completion of a combined 11-year, $76 billion set of deals with Disney, NBC and Amazon. The deals average out to $6.9 billion per season for the NBA, which will significantly increase revenue for the league and the salary cap starting in 25-26.
ESPN's deal is considered the "A" package and they will pay an average of $2.6 billion per year, which is up from $1.5 billion under the current deal. While ESPN will broadcast fewer overall games, they retain both The Finals and a Conference Finals annually.
NBC will pay an averaged of $2.5 billion per year, while Amazon will pay $1.8 billion per year. NBC and Amazon will alternate broadcasting one of the two Conference Finals series. Amazon will also broadcast the In-Season Tournament and Play-In games.

Amazon should hire JVG.

TNT blows ESPN out of the water. ESPN is so cringy to watch and the ratings back it up. Disney can't sell ESPN soon enough.
I get wanting to take the most money possible, but the NBA also needs to consider who they are partnering with. Going with ESPN seems so short sighted. It's like Jaylen Brown taking a 5% raise to play with the Wizards.

I used to watch every game of my home team. Not anymore due to locked out for certain games. Missing games I find that I really didn't miss it. Doing other things just don't care like I used to.

It would almost have to. The article states that some games will be broadcast "exclusively" on Peacock, which means they won't be on League Pass (or my TV.)

The NBA is not going to give a massive TV network a near 1 billion dollar discount every year just because people like inside the NBA. ESPN and TNT both have the right to match the deals because of their previous contracts. So it wasn't as if the NBA could legally kick ESPN out even if they wanted to. The NBA is getting way more than a 5% raise. They are getting more than double of what they got from their previous TNT deal compared to the new NBC one.
It's really NBC vs TNT since ESPN was always going to match an offer. Do they want to just give a massive discount to TNT just because? Which would affect all the players in the NBA since their salaries would be affected since the cap wouldn't go up as much. Which obviously is not a realistic thing that would happen.

Yes local blackouts on league pass will happen (as they have happened in the past when local networks have exclusive rights). NBA still have the full rights to broadcast all their own games directly on league pass internationally though.

I don't give a damn about any of these contract details, as long as NBC brings back that John Tesh "NBA On NBC" theme music from the 90s.

1 billion dollar discount every year? That would be almost 50%, not 5%.

Here in Australia we have the NBA all through our work day and every game on League Pass. We're really blessed. On reflection, I probably was winking!

Here in the US I can't watch my local team on TV, but I can drive 20 minutes and see them in person. That's probably a fair trade. What isn't fair is that you guys have Koalas, Kangaroos and Platypus (A Big 3?) while I'm stuck with skunks and squirrels. It's like being a Wizards fan! Whatever happened to parity?

Man squirrels are so cool. We don't have squirrels but we do have sugar gliders. Sorry, I'm not helping.

I don't know what a sugar glider is... but I know I want one! That might be the GOAT of animal names... other than an actual goat, which is clearly not the GOAT.

Tiny flying squirrel basically. I always reckon they called them sugar gliders because when you see one flying over your head you can't help saying "Sweet!"
