Pacers Currently Limited To Four-Year, $75M Extension Offer To Andrew Nembhard

The Indiana Pacers would like to sign Andrew Nembhard to a contract extension this offseason, but they can only offer him a four-year, $75 million deal due to CBA limits on raises.

With Nembhard playing so well in a lead guard role in the playoffs when Tyrese Haliburton was injured, he could potentially command a larger contract if he were to hit the open market.

If Nembhard declines the extension, the Pacers could decline their team option on him in 2025 and extend the qualifying offer for him to become a restricted free agent. If the Pacers exercise the affordable $2 million option for 25-26, Nembhard would then become an unrestricted free agent in 2026.

Nembhard is represented by Todd Ramasar and Jaafar Choufani.

It's impossible to live on that wage.

This guy is not worth this much. He’d be a bum bench player on any other team. He will gladly take this deal when Indy offers it.

Is Haliburton worth 240m, more than 3 times over Nembhard?

It is not uncommon for team's all-star (Hali's not a superstar) to be paid so much more than someone of the stature of Nembhard and I do agree he would/should take this deal when offered by Indy. But Nembhard at that price would probably become a more valuable contract (relatively speaking) than Haliburton on a max deal for the simple fact that he plays solid defense and he has been improving on his initial weakness (shooting) and will continue to do so.

On this recent playoff run, I think guys like Siakam, Turner, Nembhard, Nesmith were way more important to Indy's success, not individually but as a core. It honestly feels like you could have replaced Hali with guys like Trae Young or DeAaron Fox and have the exact same level of success.
