Pelicans Could Move Back In NBA Draft To Pick Up Future Seconds

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Jun 12, 2024 12:56 pm

The New Orleans Pelicans have the 21st pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. It's not a lock that the Pelicans will keep that pick and select in that spot, however.

New Orleans could trade that pick to move back in the draft, while picking up additional second-round draft capital. Such a move would help balance out the Pelicans draft picks moving forward.

The Pelicans are flush with first-round draft picks in the coming years. They have all of their own picks, plus extra picks and swaps coming from the Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks.

New Orleans doesn't have many second-round picks though. As of now, the Pelicans have a second-round pick only in 2030. All of the team's other day-two selections have been moved to other teams through various trades.

Makes sense due to their cap situation.

It's better they do this because they've squandered almost every first round pick since the AD trade. The Pels are such a poverty franchise

Pels should work out a deal with RealGM and save big with $300 off!

These ads are too much. Not a good sign.

RealGM losing members for years now. Likely losing contracts with NBA teams for data feeds/scouting databases. Which means they’ll start losing those NBA contacts too.

After Zion Williamson in 2019 at #1 (an obvious choice) the Pels have done nothing in the draft. OKC is in a much better position.

Trade Zion to the Knicks (or highest bidder) for a million picks and start over.

Lol first of all why would they do that? They just did a reset and you want them to do it all over again? Zion is not even 25 yet. Are you in a rush or something? Lol
