Magic Have Limited Interest In Klay Thompson

The Orlando Magic's interest in signing Klay Thompson may be getting a little overstated. Orlando does have interest in Thompson, but on a more limited basis than some of the speculation.

The Magic reportedly would offer Thompson an enhanced version of the contract they gave Joe Ingles last summer. Ingles signed a two-year, $22 million contract, with a team option for the second season. Orlando is willing to give Thompson a similar shot-term contract, presumably for more money. Thompson is reportedly seeking a long-term deal this summer.

The Magic project to have nearly $50 million in cap space to spend this summer. That puts Orlando in place to make major moves this summer to bolster a young roster that made the playoffs last season.

Thompson is and always has been overrated. Can’t even make an open jumper and thinks he’s worth a max contract. I detest the dubs with a passion and look forward to seeing this washed up clown towel waving with the lakers next year. Loser!

I wonder if he’ll end up getting less than what he rejected from the Warriors

Well, it's refreshing to see some realistic reporting on this. I've made my feelings known about this "connection" in the Magic forum quite often. But, the cliff notes version is he isn't a terrific fit for the current Magic roster. I think this was all started by his agent trying to get leverage on extension talks.

He's not worth anywhere near what the Warriors will give him as a lifetime achievement award/contract. He's exactly like Draymond Green. No one will pay him what GSW will. Which is why Golden State is paying out more in the luxury tax than anyone else.

He wasn't overrated before the injury. He could shoot the lights out and play solid D. He's washed up now though

Both these takes are arse.. He won a title after the injuries in 2022 and averaged the same amount of points as previous runs he is a diminished defender but the reason this **** is arse is because calling a 38% 3point shooter this year washed is ludicrous he aint worth a 4 year 100mil contract true but he still an NBA calibre player..

Magic has a strong core of young defensively minded players. They just need to add a proper point guard to direct the offense. Trae should fit in like a glove

I'll give you the 38% shooting is good but it' not coupled with the D, which makes it much more harder to put him out on the floor.

Melo shot 38% 40% 37.5% from 3 in his last three years and people called him washed. Klay is in the same boat.

Definitely not worth the big money. A hired gun off the bench for $10-$15 mil? Sure.
