The NBA had been moving increasingly toward small-ball in recent seasons. This was reflected in only one true center being drafted in the first round of the 2023 NBA Draft. That followed only three centers being first-round picks at the 2022 NBA Draft.
The 2024 NBA Draft may change that trend. As many as eight centers could be drafted in the first round. This includes both true fives, as well as player who can play either big position.
Donovan Clingan, Alex Sarr and Zach Edey are all locks to be drafted in the first round. Kyle Filipowski, Yves Missi and Kel'el Ware should also be drafted inside of the top-30. Adem Bona and DaRon Holmes II are the final two centers who could be selected in the first round.
