Make this make sense to me. Grant is Clutch so we know that is in play. To make this deal happen they’d probably have to trade Rui & Gabe Vincent. Go look at his stats from once Darvin Ham put him back in the starting lineup. His comps were very close to Grant at $12M savings compared to Grant’s contract per year. He is also 4 years younger than Grant.
Grant - 33.9 MPG 21.0 PPG 45%/40%/82% - FG/3P/FT
Rui - 31.13 MPG 15.9 PPG 56.3%/44.2%/72% - FG/3P/FT
What you see above is Rui’s splits from February - April once he was put in the starting lineup. His FT typically would be closing to 76 -80% but he shot 61% for the month of February which weighted his stats down.
Another stat to compare is Grant shot about 5.1 3PA/Game. Rui took 4.0 3PA/Game. Very comparable. Does Jerami Grant add to the defensive side of the ball where it makes sense to do the swap? I am not sure it’s that much of a difference to sway to make this move. If Rui was on POR he would have a lot more opportunities being more ball dominant as Grant has been with more opportunities so you’d have to think with an extra few minutes per game he would increase the numbers to what Grant is doing.

Rui isn't on opposing team's whiteboards... Grant is at the top in bold letters. Not because he would be on a good team but because he is the face of a bad team. His PPG and FGA would go down in LAL but his efficiency would go way up. Situation matters.
That said, I don't think your proposed deal gets it done. One thing POR definitely does not need is another small guard.

Taking on Grant with 3 years left plus a player option. Meh, not that he is a bad player; just doesn't seem like a move that will move the needle that much.
