The Los Angeles Lakers have selected Bronny James with the No. 55 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Bronny averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 19.4 minutes over 25 games as a freshman at USC. Bronny had an uneven freshman season on a disappointing USC team after recovering from his cardiac arrest last summer.

During the second round, Rich Paul reportedly told teams that Bronny would play in Australia next season if they were to take him. Bronny only held individual workouts with the Lakers and Phoenix Suns. 

While LeBron James may no longer have had prioritized playing alongside Bronny, it clearly was preferred by their camp.

Remember when Eli forced his way to NY over San Diego? Archie made that charge for his son. This happens all the time in all sports when players force their way to a specific team . Anyone could have drafted Bronny regardless of what they said. If he was 20-40 range talent you really think no one team would have taken him? Tankathon had Bronny ranked #72 overall. The threat of Klutch sports is the bigger problem so it worked out for him

I wish a team had called their bluff on that and make him play in the NBL, now Bron will force JJ to find minutes for his son.

I don't know about a low point for the league. If the Lakers, or any team for that matter, used a first round pick for Brony I would agree. But it was a late 2nd round pick. Tons of 2nd rounders never stay in the league so it's not like there was a known diamond was in there and they missed out on them.

A deserving player went undrafted just to preserve Lebron's ego. Not exactly a low point... but not awesome!

We will see if deserving players get less minutes just to get Bronny some playing time.

What about Giannis and his brother? Or Austin Rivers? Not saying its ok its not but 55th pick a lot of the time is not even used.

And the threat fim them is ok? No pênalty for them? If I was one of the teams in late second round I would pick him. Just to have the chance to be the one driving him to the closest airport and put the kid in the flight to Australia

Because the league told dame and his agent, thry shouldn't be forcing nobody or they would be fined. I see no difference here and the league didn't say sht

Dude people aren't hurt or crying for it. People mad about klutch move but more so at the league front office for not saying a thing about it

I’m not sure when you started watching basketball, but this has been going on for a while. For example, Kobe told everyone to not draft him except Lakers or he’s playing in Italy. Not every player can do this, just depends on the kind of leverage you have. But to scream and yell about a 55th pick doesn’t make sense. Second round picks hardly ever stay in the league so I see no reason to fret over it.
