The Detroit Pistons have hired J.B. Bickerstaff as their next head coach. The decision comes on the eve of free agency opening, where the Pistons project to have more than $50 million in cap space.

New front office leader Trajan Langdon is attempting to remake the Pistons from the top down. He's made several front office changes, and now is bringing in Bickerstaff as the team's new coach.

Bickerstaff was fired by the Cleveland Cavaliers following the Cavs second-round playoff ouster at the hands of the Boston Celtics. In five seasons with Cleveland, Bickerstaff went 170-159 with two playoff appearances. Bickerstaff has also coached the Houston Rockets and Memphis Grizzlies.

They fired Monty for a guy that coaches almost the exact same way? I’m curious if JB got more money than Monty, if I’m him I’m not signing for a dollar less than Monty did.
